Nothing but the Truth

People travelled to the Gaithersburg Hilton by the hundreds over this last weekend for the “X-Conference: the 1st Annual Exopolitics Expo”, a gathering that aims to discuss the government’s policy to cover up the existence of UFO and extraterrestrial phenomena. The convention is the brainchild of Stephen Bassett, an activist who is known to have been a political candidate in the 2002 Maryland’s 8th Congressional District elections, and a man determined to “reform, revise, and open up” the U.S. political system. Basset is firm in his conviction that the conference is not about the UFOs; rather, it is about the lies that we are told.

More than 700 people attended the convention, including guests from foreign countries like Switzerland and the United Kingdom, to listen to a large number of speakers addressing the subject; Jim Marrs, who had written the books “Rule by Secrecy” and “Alien Agenda”, is one of the distinguished speakers.

Marrs is best known for his work “Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy”, but showed more passion in discussing the government’s conspiracy to suppress extraterrestrial and UFO information. For example, on his Sunday lecture, Marrs said that Kennedy learned about the Roswell sightings as a congressman and later visited Area 51 as the US President, only to be told by air force officers that none of it was true.

Despite the modest number of participants, international members of the press took notice of the event. This proves to be encouraging not only to the participants at the event, but also its organiser, Bassett. He is following up this convention with a project to raise enough money for a Citizen Hearing geared towards discussing government cover-ups of extraterrestrial phenomena.
