This is an American band which specialises in alternative rock, Emo, post-grunge and post-hardcore. This Los Angeles based band was established in 1998 and continues to make music till date. The band currently comprises of Jared Leto, Tomo Milicevic and Shannon Leto.Jared Leto is the lead vocalist and plays the rhythm guitar. Milicevic is the lead guitarist and also plays the violin, keyboard and the synthesizer .Shannon Leto is the drummer of the band.
Leto brothers Jared and Shannon created this band. They were later joined by Matt Wachter who played the bass and the keyboard. Solon Bixler and Kevin Drake were the first two guitarist of the band who quit the band due to touring problems. They were followed by lot many guitarist but finally the band selected Milicevic as their lead guitarist. The band released its self-titled album in 2002.Bob Ezrin produced this album. It received mixed reviews and around 100,000 copies of the album were sold. Two of the singles “Edge of the earth “and” Capricorn” from this album became instant hit. Capricorn topped the US Mainstream Rock chart at the 31 st position. The band released its second album on the 30 th of August in 2005. The album entitled “A Beautiful lie “was a sophomore album. The band included two more tracks “hunter” and” Battle of One” in the album as it got leaked before its release. The band also enclosed 12 copies of the album with golden tickets to promote the album. The golden tickets guaranteed free tickets to the any of the concerts of 30 Seconds to Mars.
The band got two nominations in the MTV music video awards on the 31 st of August in 2006.They were given the MTV2 award for the single “The Kill” from their second album. The album “A Beautiful Lie” sold over 1,000.001 copies and received platinum certificate in January by RIAA. MTV2 sponsored the “Welcome to the Universe “Tour which the band began in the month of October. Several other bands supported 30 Seconds to Mars such as Head Automatica, Cobra Starship, The Receiving End of Sirens, street Drum Corps, Rock Kills Kids and many others. The video of "From Yesterday" was premiered by MTV2 on 20 th of November .This is the third single from the album” A Beautiful Lie” and the rock video was entirely shot in China.
The band 30 Seconds to Mars performed at the MTV Australia Video Music Awards on the 29 th of April in 2007.They got 3 nominations and won two awards. They were given the “Video of the Year” and “Best Rock video” for the single” The Kill”. The band was supposed to support “The used” in the “Taste of Chaos” tour and also the Linking Park in the Europe tour in the year 2007.The band hosted the MTV Europe Music Awards 2008 and also won an award. 30 seconds to Mars won the Best International Rock Band award on the 16 th of October in 2008 at Los Premios MTV Latinoamérica 2008. The band has started working on its third album. Some of the songs that will be included in the album has been already performed by the band in their overseas-tours.
