What We Thought
Sophisticated sound systems have gone a long way, now thanks to the new high technology digital era, Altec Lansing - ACS45.1is one of the best there is. While others use plastic housing, it uses wood for the entire speaker system giving it a better bass reproduction with a slightly bigger sub woofer and a built in power switch incorporated to the volume control. The system consists of one volume control for the left and right channels and another for the sub woofer giving the user the power to navigate the sound it produces. Connections are linked using a stereo jack between the unit and sound card. Only three wires are used to link all the system speakers, one is from source to the sub woofer; here you also have a choice between connecting to the speaker system or the sub woofer, another going to the right channel and lastly, to the left channel. The sound quality as a whole is very good. Individually, the sub woofer is very strong and loud in its bass quality, good stereo sound reproduction. There is evidently separation between left and right channel but a little timid on its treble performance making it less vivid on the surround or spacious sound level. For the budget conscious, you would probably think twice before getting this unit. It looks and sounds well as its price. If you are on the rock side of the audio extreme this is a highly recommended piece of equipment.
